From Waiting for Opportunities to Creating Them

When Liz joined Me to We Habitat, she had considerable experience as a counsellor, but she did not yet fully see herself as a business owner.

Much of her work had previously come through referrals or opportunities that were already being advertised. She had never sent proposals directly to organisations or felt confident suggesting workshops and collaborations of her own.

Through her time in Me to We, Liz has developed a clearer business model, stronger messaging and greater confidence in explaining the value of her work.

The weekly group environment has given her space to explore real decisions, hear different perspectives and identify practical next steps. Rather than trying to work everything out alone, she has been able to test her ideas and become clearer about the direction she wants her business to take.

The most significant change has been in Liz’s actions.

She has started approaching organisations directly, sending proposals and suggesting workshops and potential collaborations, even when no opportunity has been advertised.

One organisation has already responded positively to her proposal and would like to move forward when funding becomes available.

Although this has not yet become a confirmed contract, it represents an important shift. Liz is no longer only waiting to be referred or invited. She is putting herself and her ideas forward and beginning to create her own opportunities.

Her next focus is to continue developing relationships with organisations, grow her private counselling work and explore supervision for other counsellors as an additional income stream.

“Me to We has helped me become clearer about my business and more confident about putting myself forward. I have started approaching organisations, suggesting workshops and proposing collaborations in a way I would not have done before.”
